Great Fire of Sandridge!

After the Great Fire of Sandridge, our village has been redesigned by Year 2!  In English, we looked at proper noun and using capital letters correctly.  This linked into our geography and history lessons too.  We looked at a map of Sandridge to identify the names of local roads and lanes.  In the next lesson, we worked in partners to create a new map.  We have used some of the same road names and inlcuded some recognisable and new human features for our new village.

Fantastic Practical Maths

We have been using practical resources to help with our Maths.  We have been making patterns, sequences and rearranging mathematically objects.

Great Fire Diary

Have you seen our Great Fire of London diaries?  We have written excellent recounts about what happened on 2nd September 1666. We then tore the edges of the paper and wet teabags to make them look old and burnt.  Some children loved the activity so much they did some extra diaries for homework.

Antibullying Week

Year 2 take bullying seriously and have made a fantastic

book for Anti-Bullying Week 2015.  We made a poster using the computer with messages about bullying and what to do.

Our book is in our class should you wish to have a look.

Great Fire!

A few boys in our class have made some fantastic Tudor houses that have been set alight.  They needed to cover the shoe box with white paper.  Then, they cut some black sugar paper into strips and glued them onto the box.  Next, the boys cut out some flames and put them onto the house.

Great Fire of London!

Wow! Look at our collage skills.  We have recreated the Great Fire of London using sugar paper and tissue papers.
The effects are excellent.
