Welcome to Class Two!

What a super, first week back we have had in Class Two. Thank you Class Two for being absolute superstars all week, you have tried so hard and have already settled in and learnt so much! Also, a big thank you to Class Two parents for being so friendly and supportive this week. I look forward to meeting you all properly next Tuesday for our 'meet the parents' slot at 9:00.

Have a lovely, restful weekend ready for lots of learning on Monday Class Two.
Please remember your READING BOOKS AND RECORDS and your PE KIT (if it is not already in school.)

Please enjoy laughing at our class photos! (I may have to have a word with the photographer...)

Ps: A big well done to all of our team members who received a certificate this week. Who will it be next week?

Year 2 have gone Computing crazy!

Year 2 had a bit of an iPad crazy week this week.

Firstly, we used the iPads as part of our maths lesson alongside the Bee bots. We were looking at position, direction and movement in maths. We used the programmable Bee bots to follow instructions and then navigate to a given shape in the classroom. We then used the iPads and played on the Bee bot app. This uses instructional and navigation skills to get the bees to a flower.

On Thursday afternoon in Computing, we then used the iPads as part of our 'evaluating creative devices' unit. We are comparing real life painting, using 'Finger Paint' app on the iPads and the 'Paint' app on the laptops. We discovered that the 'Finger Paint' app was easy to use but it had many areas which could be improved. Once our evaluation and comparison is complete, Year 2 will share their findings!

Week Commencing 14th March

Wow, what an unbelievably busy and exciting week we had! This week was British Science Week and Sports Relief at Sandridge. We had such a fantastic week investigating, exploring and doing a number of new sports.

In Science, we learnt all about sound and vibrations. We did 4 experiments on Monday to find out how vibrations work and then on Tuesday, we learnt about pitch and created our own musical scales.

On Friday, it was Sports Relief. The children in Year 2 learnt a street dance, they learnt how to dribble and pass in hockey and how to catch and pick up the ball in lacrosse.

Have a look at our pictures (more pictures and videos on the way soon!)

E-safety

On Tuesday, the children had an e-safety day. They started off the day with an assembly with Mr Sherwood which was about being safe online and discussing about being kind when socialising online. In the afternoon, we took an e-safety quiz and discussed the importance of being safe online. The children were brilliant and know how to stay safe 😃!

Year 2 Trip to the Church for RE

On Thursday, Year 2 went to St Leonard's Church with Miss Roberts and Mrs Knight. They went to find and discuss Christian symbols in the church and ask Reverend Crumpler some questions about religious signs and symbols.
Here are some of the questions children asked and a photo of something symbolic in a Christian church...

British Values Assembly

We have been focussing on what it means to be British and how our differences build up a special community of people in Britain.
