These are the new class pets. Yes we have stick insects! So far they're not doing too much however the children check them regularly through the day.
They are Indian stick insects and will grow up to 10cm long.

I must be mad....

On Friday afternoon, Class Two enjoyed creating clay moon tiles, rolling, scoring, and manipulating clay. We tried to make craters of different sizes and depths. I'm not sure if it's just because I am really hungry but the more you look at them, the more they begin to look like pizza!

Happy world book week!

Thank you to all children and parents for your efforts with the book character costumes on Friday! There were some brilliant and very original costumes!

We have done lots of learning linked to books, reading and 'World Book Day' this week. We re- designed the front covers of our favourite books (please see some of the photos below), wrote questions to ask the author Alexander Martin when he came to visit, created our own good and bad characters inspired by the interesting characters in Alexander Martin's books or our favourite books and then used them to write our own stories and of course, dressed up as our favourite book characters!

What is Palm Sunday...

As part of our Easter topic in RE we have been looking at the story of Palm Sunday and the symbolism of the palm leaves that were placed on the ground as a sign of respect
and honour to Jesus. After reading and discussing the story of Palm Sunday we split into groups and re- enacted the story. Take a look at one of our groups performing the story of Palm Sunday...

Great Fire of London house building....

So as promised last week, here is an update on our 'Pudding Lane' house building development....

The children had previously measured the front, back and side faces of their buildings and of their roofs. This week they have measured and cut tabs to join the front, back and sides and stuck them together. Some children managed to get onto attaching their roof.

To complete our house building projects, the children will be mixing primary colours to make the colours found on the buildings in Pudding Lane and then painting their houses. They will need to add any finishing touches like the wooden beams to finish....
